One of the best things about padel is how quickly you can start enjoying it even if you’ve never played a racquet sport before. At Padel Shift, we believe the game should be inclusive, accessible and sociable no matter your experience. But we also know that joining a new sport (or stepping onto court with people you don’t know) can feel a bit daunting. That’s why we use player level groupings to help everyone feel confident and matched with others at a similar stage. Here’s a breakdown to help you work out where you fit in.
You’ve never played before, or only tried it once or twice. You may not know the rules yet and are still getting used to serving, rallying and playing off the walls. We would suggest joining an Intro to Padel session to get you started. What to expect:
- Learn how to serve underarm and keep a rally going
- Get comfortable with the rules and court positioning
- Slow-paced, supportive sessions with a coach
- No pressure -everyone starts somewhere
You’ve played a few times and are starting to feel more at ease on court. You understand the basics, can rally, and know where to stand — but you’re still building confidence and consistency. What to expect:
- Beginning to use the walls and volley
- Can serve and return with some control
- Ready for relaxed matchplay with occasional tips
You play fairly regularly and have a solid grasp of technique. You’re starting to understand strategy, positioning, and how to adapt your game to different partners. What to expect:
- Comfortable with volleys, lobs, smashes
- Can build and finish points
- Aware of when to defend or attack
You play often and at a high level. You’re confident with all types of shots, understand match dynamics, and thrive in faster-paced, competitive games. What to expect:
- Strong consistency and shot variety
- Confident in offensive and defensive play using the walls
- Strategic focus and small margin improvements
No problem. If you're ever unsure, just ask one of our coaches or team members and we’ll help you find the right session for your level and goals. You can also start with an Intro session or book a 1:1 or group grading session for tailored feedback.
We use level-based sessions to ensure:
- Everyone plays at a comfortable pace
- Games are enjoyable and productive
- You improve faster with the right mix of challenge and support
At Padel Shift, everyone has a place on court and we’ll help you find yours.
